Want to know what games made your father or older brother’s loins burn back in the 80s and 90s. A quick check of YouTube has produced three videos of memorable Abandonware games. Here’s a breakdown:

As for the questions that come after viewing such gaming masterpieces: 1) Yes, that’s how daddy’s first-person shooter games look like. Don’t complain. You haven’t seen Wolfenstein yet. 2) Yes, the Prince of Persia was faceless and devoid of detail back in the 80s. The new ‘do, despite gaining acceptance among today’s youth, just won’t cut it for the older generations. 3) No, paratroopers are not S.E.A.L.

We all know Perfect World, a new massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Beijing Perfect World Co. Ltd. and published locally by Level Up! Games, is chock-full of features. What some gamers don’t know, however, is that Perfect World has taken character customization to new heights.

Before Perfect World, a new massively multiplayer online role-playing game introduced locally by Level Up! Games, hits the monitors of your friendly neighborhood Internet cafes and gaming shops, it is wise to read up on related literature—to give you that edge once the game gets rolling.

And what better way to start than by checking out the different jobs and classes available in the game world.

Legend of Mir 2: Lover’s Quest

Is your avatar in love? Does he or she go on adventures with a special someone? If this is the case, you might want to undertake the Legend of Mir 2 Lover’s Quest and receive the much-coveted Gem Couple Ring. The road starts at the Flower Vendor at Castle Bichon. What does this special ring do? Let’s find out.

• When both lovers wear the rings, they allow one to teleport to the other’s position. Just type @meetcouple in the chatbox do activate the magic. The power is limited, however, just like the normal teleport spells. The magic can’t bring your avatar to his or her lover who is in a non-teleport zone. What’s worst is, you can only do this once every time you log into the game.
• You can gem or orb this item, just like any other item in the game. Unfortunately, the ring is subject to the laws of upgrading, meaning it can break after an unsuccessful attempt to gem or orb it.
• The ring won’t be one of the items lost upon avatar death.
• Tired of being summoned or visited by your significant other? You can pawn the ring at your friendly neighborhood trader.

Ragnarok Online: Ninja, Gunslinger Skill Chart

While surfing for useful gaming news, Gam3r Me found out that a lot of Ragnarok Online players are still in the dark about the skill trees of the game’s latest job class additions—the Ninja and the Gunslinger. For the sake of everyone having a hard time referencing, here are copies of the skill charts.

Every game worth its weight in gold has a FAQ sheet, guide or walkthrough posted somewhere in the vastness of the World Wide Web. Simply put, these games are the ones that get played frequently—so frequent that fans do their darnedest best to stake their claim as the first to come up with an encyclopedia on the do’s and don’ts of a particular game.

But what if a game doesn’t have a 255-page, 640-kilobyte FAQ sheet waiting on some shmuck’s website for newbies to tap? Is the game devoid of a fanbase? Is it so bad that self-crowned gaming kings and queens shun it or pretend it doesn’t exist?

Or is it the other way around? Maybe a game is so good that it beats a player at every turn, refusing to reveal its secrets in full but only in tiny bits and pieces. This is probably the case in my quest to find quests in the surprisingly interesting Legend of Mir 2: The Three Heroes, a massively multiplayer role-playing game from South Korean developer Wemade Entertainment Co. published locally by Okey-Dokey Interactive Entertainment.

Ragnarok Online: Evolved Headgears

Evolved headgears are now available in Ragnarok Online. Just what are evolved headgears? Well, these thingamajigs are actually more powerful versions of those special headgears dropped by MVPs, courtesy of Rune Midgard’s greatest smiths. Hmmm, I wonder if Waukeen has anything to do with this.

Unfortunately, our master smiths can only handle so much. At present, they have only churned out two artifacts for you ‘RoKers out there. Enjoy!

Take note, however, that these items are only available at the RO Hypermart, and their prices are only introductory, meaning you might have to dish out more if you buy later. Also, once purchased, these items cannot be traded or sold through player merchants. They can moved from one character to the other via the Kafra Storage.

Soundtrack: The Memory of Ragnarok

The Memory of Ragnarok Original Soundtrack is an album featuring background music from the highly popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game Ragnarok Online. The soundtrack includes original background music from the South Korean-developed game, along with remixes and vocal arrangements of in-game music called BGMs, or background music. The game’s official theme song, “You and I,” is also included.

Ragnarok Online: Ninja, Gunslinger Job Change Quests

NINJA

To become a ninja, an avatar must be a novice at Job Level 10. The ninja guild is located in the city o Amatsu. To get to Amatsu, an NPC near the wall north of the merchant guild in Alberta will take you there for free.

Once you get to Amatsu, enter the Ninja Guild Building and search for a room hidden behind a wall at the back of the main room. Inside this room, you’ll find Guild Master Couger Kai, who will ask you to deliver a message to his enemy in Einbroch.

After talking to him, make your way to Einbroch Tower. The cheapest way to Einbroch is to go back to Alberta via the same boat that took you there. Then take the boat to Izlude for 500 zeny and board an airship to Juno for 1,200 zeny, In Juno, switch from international to domestic flight and then get off at Einbroch.

MMORPG: Ragnarok Online Episode 14, Hugel

There’s no other word to describe it. Ragnarok Online’s next episode—Hugel—is simply HUGE! What’s so great about Hugel? New quests, new dungeons and, most important of all, new playable character classes.

“It’s the game’s biggest patch, literally and figuratively, since Lighthalzen,” says Philippine Ragnarok Online Administrator Carlo Ople, who has left his life as the battleforger Waukeen for a nifty desk job at Level Up! Games, the game’s local publisher.

“Hugel is so big you can feel the pressure, the excitement building up. This is even made more apparent by the resurgence in interest in the game. We have not only recaptured the attention of long-time players of Ragnarok who have shifted to other games but also new players.”

New players couldn’t have chosen a more opportune time to enter the world of Rune Midgard. With the addition of the Hugel patch this March, Rebirth and Level 99 avatars will have a new stomping ground to test their mettle.
